I have made this recipe from the food network with a few adjustments and we were surprised. It would be a good "having the missionaries over" meal. I was surprised about how short the cooking time was for the pork chops. They were very tender..even when they are thick. You may need a few more minutes but try the short cook first..then taste to see if done.
The greens and strawberry were picked from our own garden by Sasha and Gretta. This meal is also good the next day..
Pork Chops with Pear Chutney
main meals
Servings: 4 Course: main meals
Ingredients
· 1/4 cup shallot(s), chopped- could use onion
· 3 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
· 2 1/2 Tbsp packed light brown sugar
· 1 Tbsp unsalted butter,
· 1 tsp curry powder
· 1 tsp ground cinnamon
· 2 1/4 tsp kosher salt
· 1 cup canned pears, packed in light syrup, approximate
· 4 Tbsp Ocean Spray Whole Berry Cranberry Sauce or more
· 8 Bone-In Pork Chops, center cut is good
· 1 tsp black pepper
· 2 Tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
Pear Chutney
1. In microwave bowl stir together the chopped shallot, vinegar, brown sugar, butter, curry powder, cinnamon, salt, and a touch of red pepper.
2. Cover and seal with plastic wrap and heat in the microwave (or on stove) on high for 1 minute.
3. Remove the plastic and chop in the canned pears (drained) leaving them chunky. Add the cranberries leaving chunky. Heat all together.
Pork Chops
1. Heat a large skillet (I use cast iron) over medium high heat.
2. Dry the pork chops well and season with salt and pepper.
3. Add 1 tablespoon oil to the pan and heat until shimmering.
4. Lay 4 chops in the pan and sear until golden brown, on one side- about three minutes.
5. Turn the chops over and cook an additional 1 or 2 minutes.
6. Remove from the pan and set aside in a warm place- repeat with the rest of the chops.
Finish the sauce:
1. Add the pear chutney to the chop pan and use a wooden spoon to scrape any brown bits that cling to the pan.
2. Simmer until slightly thickened. Pour over the chops and serve rest of the sauce with a little extra cranberry sauce on side.

Thanks Mom!
Mom let me have some of her left overs while I was there the other day and they were very tasty! (she didn't offer me any of the first timers....If left overs are second then what is is called when it is served the first time??)
i need some pork chop skills. i never cook pork, but i live in iowa, which is porkville, usa. it's always cheap here.
stepi, the original meal could be called pre-leftovers, or startovers, or rightovers, or hmm....what is the opposite of left?
