Butter Chicken

1oz butter
1 onion chopped
1 clove garlic, crushed
2 large boneless chicken breasts
1t ginger
1t chili powder
1t tumeric
1t cinnamon
1t salt
¾ c cream (I use whole milk just fine)
1T tomato paste
½ t garam masala (I usually forget this and it is fine)

Saute onion and garlic in butter. Cut chicken into bite size pieces. Combine spices and salt and toss chicken until well coated. Saute chicken until golden brown. Stir in cream and tomato paste. Cover pan and simmer 10 min or until cooked through. Sprinkle with garam masala. (I serve with rice)

YUM! I thought this was a curry type chicken at first. It also looks like this dish that Scott and I have had a an Indian restaurant here in ABQ. It's my favorite dish there...I can't remember what it's called though. I should know since it's my favorite but it's all stuff I can't pronounce or I think I'm saying it wrong. I can remember "orange colored sauce chicken." Maybe that's what's it called....or at least it should be...because really, I shouldn't be forced to try and say hard stuff from different foreign freakish countries, should I?!...looks great, Emily.

It probably is the orange colored sauce chicken you get at the indian restaurant- when we first went to an indian restaurant I asked the guy what I should order and he said "butter chicken- that is what everyone usually gets"

Wait a minute! Is it one ounce butter or ten ounces of butter? And if it is only one oz then why is it called Butter Chicken?

1 oz! I don't know why it is called butter chicken- probably because it is easy to pronounce?
;0) When I've gotten it in restaurants the chicken is so tender and soft (like butta!- have to say it in a coffee talk accent) but who the heck knows? not me!

Yes, try it today!
